  • MARSHAL's TRAINING DAY

There will be a marshal training day (listed on the SACC website, but just as "South" at present) at Kames on the 3rd September. Although it's listed as a rally and sprint training day, we're expecting it to mainly focus on getting rally marshals certified prior to the Galloway Hills Rally. We are planning on doing the practical parts at Kames circuit and using the caravan park lounge for the classroom sessions etc. We've asked Rupert Hine for a specific sprint training day in the January to March 2017 window, so that we can all complete this before the start of the season.

Please contact Chaz (cmars7167@hotmail.com) for information and if you would like to assist with marshalling or attend the training day.

  • APRIL 2016 SPRINTS
The weekend of April 9th and 10th sees the opening of the local motorsport season with the opening two rounds of the Guyson Scottish Sprint Championship at Kames Motorsport Complex, Muirkirk. These two competitions will be organised by East Ayrshire Car Club who have attracted a star-studded entry which includes a past British Champion and at least four Scottish Championship winners. There are also some spectacular racing cars entered which should attract a big audience from far afield. The Saturday line-up is particularly impressive with two times British Sprint Champion Stewart Robb from Doune pitting his four litre V8 Pilbeam singleseater against the 3.5 litre V8 Gould of Stirling-based Wallace Menzies who will again be busy in 2016 travelling as far afield as the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland in his campaign to win the prestigious British Hillclimb Championship. Wallace is a big favourite on hillclimbs all over the UK with his aggressive style and once clocked an unbelievable 129 mph at the Muirkirk track. However both the big F1-type cars could be ousted by the reigning Scottish Hillclimb Champion Les Mutch from Aberdeen as his very advanced and nimble 1.6 litre GWR Raptor is suited to the tight bends at Kames. The Raptor has been built by Les’s friend Graeme Wight Junr and has scored several class wins in the British Hillclimb Championship in 2015. New cars for 2016 will include a Westfield for Ayr veteran Melvyn Hartley and a Gibson Nemesis sports racing car for Stephen Alexander of Uplawmoor. The low-cost Mazda class continues to grow with no fewer than seventeen drivers competing in MX5 cars. Practice starts around 10 a.m. each day with the competition runs scheduled from around 1 p.m.

With over 70 entries, the final speed competition on the Scottish Motorsport calendar takes place this Sunday (Oct 4th) at Kames Motorsport Complex, Muirkirk when East Ayrshire Car Club hosts the final round of the Cross Border Speed Championship. This series of competitions has taken competitors from the North of England and the lower half of Scotland to tracks as far apart as Callander and Scarborough and the climax of the Championship is certain to provide a keen but friendly Scotland versus England rivalry. The racing will involve cars ranging from roadgoing saloons through to singleseater racing cars whose drivers will be eager for some last-minute action before the long close season. Over sixty entries have been received for the meeting, unusually high for this time of year. • JULY SPRINTS PRESS RELEASE
Hosted by East Ayrshire Car Club, this weekends two sprint meetings (July 25/26th), at Kames Motorsport Complex in Muirkirk, promise to be an intriguing face-to-face between two giants of Scottish motorsport. Les Mutch has won several sprints and hillclimbs this season and the Aberdonian will again be at the wheel of his GWR Raptor, an advanced design by his friend and former British Hillclimb Champion Graeme Wight Junr at his Banchory workshop. Only four of these racing cars have been built and they have caused a sensation at most rounds of the British Hillclimb Championship, some of which they have won outright. The colourful Mutch is a big favourite at Kames but he faces stiff opposition in the form of former British Sprint Champion Stewart Robb from Stirling in a four litre V8 Pilbeam. This car looks similar to a Formula One car and like the Raptor incorporates some state of the art technology and while it is much more powerful, the superb handling of the diminutive Raptor should make this a spectacular contest. Practice starts at 9.30a.m. each day with competition runs taking place around 1.15pm.

  • July Sprints at Kames
Just a reminder that the online entry system for the July Sprints will close at midnight on Saturday 18th July.

  • July Sprints at Kames
The online entry system for our July sprints (25th & 26th July) is now open and can be accessed by clicking on "July Sprints at Kames" above. We are in the fortunate position of having competitors from 5 different championships competing at Kames that weekend, so get your entry in early to allow us to organise one the clubs main sporting weekends of 2015. Following our earlier events in April, where 38 of our members scored points, the top 10 in the clubs sprint championship is as follows: Rank Driver Car 1 Andrew Connell Mazda MX5 2 Billy Lambie snr Westfield Megabusa 3 Leslie T Mutch GWR Raptor 4 Graham Clark Radical Prosport 5 Cameron Fair Peugeot 205 S16 6 Ronnie MacGregor Honda S2000 7 Melvyn Hartley Autotune Gemini 8 Wullie Beaton OMS PR 9 Mike Murchie Ford Fiesta MK1 10 Peter Locke Mazda RX-8 PZ. Marshals are also needed for the July Sprints at Kames Motorsport Complex on 25th and 26th July. No experience is necessary and you will be provided with lunch and expenses. Marshaling is a great way to get close to the action whilst putting something into the sport we love, and is a requirement to qualify for the Club Championship. If you, or anyone you know can help, please contact Chaz Marsham (Chief Marshal, East Ayrshire Car Club) on at chaz@eastayrshirecc.co.uk or 07826 789699. He will be happy to hear from you and provide any information you need.

  • Kames Classic Car Show 2105
The EACC Show Committee are still looking for companies to advertise in the Official Show Programme, of which 800 are being printed for free issue to owners, marshals, judges, officials and the general public. Adverts will cost £30.00 per half page. Please contact Robert Smith. Our marshals have a busy July schedule and we are adding to the pressure by asking them to help out on the Creative Classics Car Show at Kames on Sunday August 2nd. However, compared to some of the tough marshalling sessions recently this could be a bit of a dawdle. It will be more relaxed with time allowed to look at an array of superb cars old and new. Mostly the marshalling will be about getting the cars into position in the various paddocks, some in the usual paddocks and many on the infield with the tarmac roads being used as pedestrian access. Then we have to operate the public car park, collect admissions and issue programmes. After judging, each class will make a slow parade lap before returning to their respective paddocks. That leaves the prizegiving and the supervision of cars leaving the venue. We hope to give each marshal regular breaks throughout the day. If you can help, please contact Robert Smith on 01290 550897. Or Chaz if he is your normal contact. As cars arrive shortly after 9 a.m. we would like marshals in place before 9 a.m. As well as catering for the older cars, there are classes for kit cars, novelty cars, modern classics and competition cars, and as we are trying to give the show a motorsport flavour we would ask members with suitable cars, from rally cars to Ferraris, to get their entries in as soon as possible. At only £4.00 it is the cheapest entry fee of the season and good, relaxed fun. Entry forms are available by clicking on "Kames Classic Car Show 2105" above.

  • WORK NIGHT AT KAMES
A work night is being planned for Wednesday 8th July, starting at around 6pm at Kames Motorsport Complex, Muirkirk. Work will include repairs to the track edges, general cleaning and tidying up of the complex for our forthcoming Classic Car Show and Sprints. You won't need any particular skills or trades to get involved, you just need to be prepared to muck in. This is a great way for you to contribute to the future of the club and for your full day's help, you can earn yourself a track pass which can be used for a test day or £35 discount against any EACC event. As always, the club have ambitious plans this year to improve the facilities and offer much more to all it's members. Your support in achieving this would be much appreciated. For further information contact Dave Clark at dave@eastayrshirecc.co.uk or 07799 234416, or Ian Gemmell at 07775 774 882 or iang@eastayrshirecc.co.uk, who will be happy to hear from you. Thank you for your time and support.

  • ALBAR KAMES TROPHY RALLY AND JUNIOR RALLIES PREVIEW
Some of motorsport’s stars of tomorrow head for Kames on July 4th when a group of 14-17 year-olds will contest a special stage rally within the complex. The youngsters have undergone a severe course of coaching over the winter months and each will be accompanied by a co-driver with many years experience. The cars will be limited to 1000cc but are very well prepared. Kames is one of the few places where these talented youngsters can gain valuable experience in the advancement of their motorsport careers. It was there a young Colin McRae and brother Alister honed their skills before entering the International arena. First crew to enter were Peter Bennett and Arthur Kierans (who is the current British Rally Champion) from Northern Ireland in a Citroen C1 and they will face opposition from drivers travelling all the way from Inverness, Elgin, Perth, Stonehaven and the North of England as well as local members of our own East Ayrshire Car Club. On Sunday the 5th the youngsters will challenge their peers when the rally is open to all ages and cars and it will be interesting to see how well they fare against tougher, faster opposition. Action begins around 11 a.m. on Saturday and 9.30am on Sunday. As usual spectators can view from the comfort of their cars and enjoy hot and cold snacks from the café. If you would be interested in marshalling at any of our events, please contact Chaz Marsham at chaz@eastayrshirecc.co.uk for information.

  • Kames Classic Car Show 2015 - Appeal for Marshals and Volunteers
UPDATE ON KAMES CLASSIC CAR SHOW - AUGUST 2ND 2015 Whether your main interest is in rallying, sprinting, autotesting or whatever, the one thing we all share in East Ayrshire Car Club is a love of beautiful cars. And while it is seldom we get the opportunity to bring all our tastes under the one event, that is exactly what we plan to do on August 2nd at Kames. Following the success of our first Classic Car Show six months ago we are now planning an even better display this year, one in which everyone can share. In particular, we would appeal to members and their friends to assist with the event in some way, however modest. After just one year the Show is already an important date in the EACC Calendar and we are anxious to repeat the popularity shown by owners and spectators. This however involves considerable work which last year was borne by too few shoulders and we ask members to help us realise the potential of this promising event. To remind you, we had 220 entries, of which over 160 turned up on an inclement day and these included Vintage, Modern Supercars, Kit Cars, Racing cars, Rally Cars, around 15 one-make clubs including Jaguar, Porsche, etc. There was also a traction engine, and some vintage commercials. And lots more. On the day we will need volunteers to look after the various paddocks, to handle the car parking, to assist with vehicle arrivals and documentation, to control vehicle movements within the site, to supervise the day’s programme and spell off the marshals on each of these tasks. Most of these tasks will not require volunteers to attend meetings but it would help with the advance planning to know who might be available on the day and in what capacity. One position we need to fill very soon is that of Entry Secretary as that person will have to be named in the regulations which we hope to finalise by the end of April. The entries should start coming in from early May until the closing date on July 13th thus spreading the Secretary’s work over a longer period than before. Robert Smith handled this work last year and having a new person in this role would free Robert to concentrate on the development of the Show. We would therefore ask anyone willing to help out to get in touch with Robert as soon as possible and for members, etc to return the attached form to him at an early date, without commitment, of course. We hope to announce an overall sponsor soon and are also seeking a sponsor for each class and for companies to take out advertisements in the official programme. Robert Smith Tel 01290 550897 robert@rsmith4.orangehome.co.uk

  • Situations Vacant
The club is looking to fill two positions on the committee. Club Secretary Responsible for club administration, point of contact for the Motor Sports Association and Scottish Association of Car Clubs. This includes internal news updates, liaising with local press etc. These positions have become vacant as the existing holders have indicated they wish to leave the committee or rotate onto another role. Please contact our chairman, russell@eastayrshirecc.co.uk or 07909 997039, or any member of the committee, if you have any interest in these positions.

Once again the club is looking for marshals to help run a stage on this years Galloway Hills Rally on Sunday the 26th of October. • URGENT REQUEST FOR MARSHALS
Marshals are needed for the Kames Classic Car show this Sunday 3rd August. We need Marshals for getting 220 cars into their allocated parking bays then controlling them as they're brought out to do a slow lap of the track and back into their bays, while the public are milling about. Please let Brian Telfer know on 07843 853450 ASAP if you can help. We need to know before the day so that we can be organised. Ideally marshals would be required from 9 a.m. but if you can't make it for then but will be able to help, please phone Brian to discuss.

  • KAMES CLASSIC CAR SHOW
Sunday 3rd August sees the inaugural Kames Classic Car Show held at Kames Motorsport Complex in Muirkirk with more than 200 entries covering enthusiasts cars dating from the 1930's, with a lot of 1970's & 80's classics like the MGB GT in the picture as well as Kit Cars, Rally Cars and Racing Cars and owner's club stands for Porsche, BMW and MG . East Ayrshire Car Club hope it will be as successful as the shows they ran at Culzean Castle for many years with the cars being judged on all aspects of their appearance and having a slow speed parade around the racetrack before the best are presented with rosettes and trophies . Most of the entries so far are the kind of cars that are regulars at Classic shows across Scotland. The show will open at 11.30 am and we’re expecting sizeable crowds – cars will be displayed in the paddock as well as trackside. We could do with some Marshals from about 9am to help get the cars into the correct bays then the tricky bit later on is to get them out for a slow parade lap of the circuit then back into the same bays without too much fuss! If you can help, please email or phone me so we know in advance who we've got. Also we need some folk to help setting out the venue on the Saturday, marking bays out, again please contact me. I’ve attached a poster, please print a copy or 2 and try to get it up in your local shop, filling station, even on a noticeboard at work. We’ve got press releases going into local papers but could do with a few posters round about. Thanks Brian Telfer 07843 853450 Briandtelfer@hotmail.co.uk

  • A PLEA FOR COMPETITOR SUPPORT OF APRIL SPRINTS.
First events of each season are the double header sprints at Kames which tend to be poorly supported often due to competitors claiming their cars have not been ready on time. Continuation of low entries could cause events to be axed as the organising committee has a responsibility to Club members to ensure club activities are viable. Every speed event has the ongoing fees for doctors/paramedics, rescue, timekeeping, scrutineers, MSA permits/ insurance, and lots more. Clearly, if entries are poor the income cannot cover expenditure. Therefore can we please try hard this year to have our cars ready in time and fully support those deserving folk who stick their necks out on a limb for our pleasure? If you are solely a hill-climb competitor you could enter the April sprints and give yourself valuable seat -time prior to Doune. Also, those of us with any aspirations in Guyson Sprint, and Lowland Speed Championships have good reason to be at Kames in April accruing points from the outset. EACC advise that they are keeping Kames entry fees same level as last year. Look forward to seeing you all there. Mike Murchie (Supporting Scottish Speed Events).
